Joshua J Cody Moves in with His Freewheeling Relatives

In the season 6 premiere of Animal Kingdom, the Codys must deal with the aftermath of the heist as they discover all did not go as planned. 17-year-old Joshua J Cody moves in with his freewheeling relatives in their Southern California beach town. Joshua's mother has recently died, and he is sent to live with his estranged grandmother, Janine "Smurf" Cody, and her sons, Pope, Craig, Deran, and Javi. The Codys are a close-knit family, but they are also criminals, and Joshua quickly learns that life with them is anything but ordinary.

The season premiere picks up where the season 5 finale left off, with the Codys celebrating their successful heist. However, it soon becomes clear that the heist did not go as smoothly as they had hoped. The police are closing in, and the Codys are starting to turn on each other. Meanwhile, Joshua is struggling to adjust to his new life. He is surrounded by criminals, and he is not sure if he can trust anyone. As the season progresses, Joshua will have to decide where his loyalties lie. Will he side with his family, or will he turn them in to the police?
