In a thrilling encounter, the Melbourne Storm have edged out the Brisbane Broncos 34-32 in Round 5 of the 2024 NRL Telstra Premiership. The match, played at AAMI Park in Melbourne, saw both teams trade blows in a high-scoring affair.
The Storm opened the scoring through Jahrome Hughes, who converted a penalty goal in the 10th minute. The Broncos responded with a try to Selwyn Cobbo in the 16th minute, but the Storm hit back with a try to Josh Addo-Carr in the 22nd minute. The Broncos leveled the scores with a try to Jack Bird in the 32nd minute, but the Storm took a 12-10 lead into halftime thanks to a Cameron Munster penalty goal.
The second half continued to be a seesawing affair, with both teams trading tries. The Broncos scored through Tyson Gamble in the 46th minute and David Fifita in the 58th minute, but the Storm responded with tries to Brandon Smith in the 53rd minute and Harry Grant in the 64th minute. The Broncos fought back to within two points with a try to Ezra Mam in the 70th minute, but the Storm held on to claim a hard-fought victory.
